Accepted as a NY Teaching Fellow following the NYC 9/11 attacks, earned permanent certification in NYS / NYC as Math instructor.

Over my various careers, I have traveled to many countries, I am an avid lover of arts and music, a collector of DVDs and enjoys virtually all forms of music, Country to Classical.

Have been doing electronics since pre-teen days. Master's in Electrical Engineering, MIT. Continued interest in electronics, computers and media hardware as an adult professional.

CEO and sole owner of mediadogg Software LLC (http://www.mediadogg.com/shopping) where several of my software programs are marketed and sold. All programs are developed with Microsoft Visual Studio C#.

Now, regarding new engagements, I would like to emphasize the importance of preparation. My best engagements have been when both I and the student are adequately prepared. Today's technology environment is so complex, that it has become nearly impossible to isolate a particular discipline, because today's solutions require a close collaboration among many. Hence, I have now established a policy whereby I reserve the right to decline an engagement if I find that the client has not shared the appropriate information with me. For example, asking for help with C# and not revealing that the C# coding is actually done in the context of Unity, and that the project is, in fact fundamentally a Unity project. Sample project materials, relevant URLs, project work scope and expectations must be shared with me, before I can agree to a lesson.

Great Explainer

Was able to provide great resources and guidance for further development independently. He was very focused on helping to address all of the direct questions I asked. The best tutor I have interacted with on this site.

Very Good Tutor

I’m a junior in high school and need help in preparing for math on the SAT. James was a very good teacher and very patient with me. He explained things so I understand them better. I felt comfortable and confident after our session. My mom is very happy and plans on using him again for future tutor sessions.

Great C# Tutor

I met with James to get a handle on the basics of C#. Not only did he help me meet my objectives, but he also showed me some Visual Studio tips, which I didn't even know I needed! I feel a lot more confident now.

Tutor responded:

Thank you Brittany. That was my goal. You helped me prepare for the lesson so that our time was more efficient, and you showed up on time and ready to start.

Knowledgeable and Very Helpful

James was very patient with me and understanding! He did a great job of encouraging me to find the answer first for myself before showing me the correct way of how to do things. I really appreciated his teaching style and definitely will be back to tutor with him in the future if I need!

Very helpful Visual Basic tutor!

First off, James was very prompt at replying and getting back to me when I first messaged him which I really appreciated cause my assignment was due on the same day I contacted him. When it got to the session, he was very patient and easy to talk to. He helpfully guided me through each question on my assignment and made sure I understood it. He knows what he's talking about and I wouldn't hesitate to suggest him to someone who needed help in Visual Basic!

Andrea, 1 lesson with James
Tutor responded:

Andrea, it was a pleasure working with you. And thank you for the generous comments. Your Windows skills and programming aptitude were quite evident, so our lesson was that much more efficient in helping you improve your Visual Basic skills.
