I have a Master's in Teaching English as a Second Language (TESOL) and Bachelor's degree in art education. I am a certified New York State ESL teacher. I have taught for 6 1/2 years in public schools as an ESL teacher working with students ages K-5. I have been teaching English as a Foreign language since March 2020. I have loved being able to do this online. I love getting to share culture and language with others, and learning from my students in return.I love sharing my joy of learning with students. I try to focus my teaching on student interests, whenever possible. Sometimes this means that I focus reading on a particular subject or focus writing on a particular genre. Other times I have turned the subject into an interactive game through gamification! I have designed lessons around mysteries and even Harry Potter! I have worked with students from all over the world and at all different levels in their English. I have experience not only as a teacher, but as a student of another language as well. I know the hard work that goes into learning another language.

I have a degree in art education. As a public school teacher, I helped run an art club where we worked on drawing skills. I work with many homeschool students to teach them the elements and principles of art as well as art history. During those classes we work with a variety of mediums including pencil, charcoal, watercolor, polymer clay, marker, colored pencil, and ink. I have worked with several students on portfolio prep for various private schools and colleges.

I am a professional portrait artist and regularly work on pet and people portraits for clients. My portraits are realistic graphite pencil drawings. I enjoy exploring different styles and techniques in drawing. I have been tutoring drawing here on Wyzant since November 2020. I specialize in teaching skills in graphite drawing of still life, landscape and figure.

I look forward to taking an educational journey with you! Please contact me with questions and to schedule a lesson.

Best Teacher Ever

Miss Meredith has never done anything less than the best for me. She taught me skills applicable in almost any art style, provided media recommendations for improvement, and encouraged practice and growth both outside of class and within. She spent time outside of class looking at my work and providing feedback, allowing me to improve both my art and writing. Projects we did were often self-guided and engaging. She provides suggestions and lets students choose what they want to do. I was given constructive criticism and suggestions for growth based on my old pieces, and she worked alongside me to demonstrate the skills. She taught me to use references, and was nothing short of encouraging. We learned anatomy by building clay models from the "bones" up, and it really helped me. She was kind and listened to me, lessons could be cancelled last moment in an emergency, and she listened to my personal issues and provided support. Over all, I am so grateful to have had her for three years. I would not have chosen anyone else.

Meredith is a WONDERFUL tutor!

Meredith has been my sons tutor for art for almost a year now. He looks forward to his lesson every week and he says he always learns something new. Meredith always has new lessons for him ready to go that he is interested in. I always get a recap after class how the lesson went and what he is excelling at and what will be worked on the following week. I am very happy and pleased with how these lessons are improving his art skills. I have nothing but positive things to say and would recomend her if you are looking for an AMAZING tutor.

Very knowledgeable and patient

In our first class, Meredith spent an adequate amount of time discovering where I am in my drawing abilities, she gave me a couple good exercises to practice before our next session and gave me several links to resources to help me through the exercises. I am very excited about our next session and feel that she will be a good guiding force in my development.
