I'm Dylan! I graduated from college with a Bachelor's degree in both Mathematics and English. Intensely studying these subjects required me to think in very different ways, and I had to approach learning from a variety of different perspectives. As such, my approach to tutoring is holistic. I know that everyone has different learning styles, and that an explanation that works well for one person might not work for another. My goal is to find the approach that works for you; I like to meet my students where they are and work from there.
I have years of experience with both tutoring and teaching. I tutored for two years at a credit-recovery center where I taught many different subjects including algebra, geometry, pre-calculus, biology, chemistry, physics, and English. I spent two summers working at a non-profit organization focused on providing an enriching experience for accelerated students from grades 3-12, where I taught courses on classical and quantum physics. In college I worked as an assistant to several math professors teaching Calculus 3 and ODEs. Currently, I am employed to provide SAT and ACT tutoring.
I have always had a deep love for mathematics, which was nurtured by several excellent teachers and professors. I bring that to my tutoring, where I take subjects that might seem dry or complex and make them simple and intuitive. I have been studying math for several years, and have taught it in multiple environments. My academic focus is on theoretical math, specifically abstract algebra, real analysis, complex analysis, and topology, but as a result I have built up a very rich understanding of algebra, geometry, and trigonometry. That understanding allows me to present most topics in these fields in a variety of ways, so I can find the one that makes them the most intuitive to you.
Please reach out if you're interested in help with mathematics, literary analysis, or writing. These subjects are my passion, and I would like to make them less intimidating and more comfortable for you.
