About Rachel

Bio

I utilize multisensory, explicit, sequential methods to teach reading, spelling and math to children with learning disabilities such as dyslexia and dyscalculia. I find joy and excitement in seeing a child understand concepts and learn skills that have previously been so difficult for them. I love to see kids have their eyes opened by having a different type of instruction that works best for their brains and how they learn!

I love to see kids have their eyes opened by having a different type of instruction that works best for their brains and how they learn!

I have OG training at the Associate level through the Orton Gillingham Academy and create individualized lessons based on each student's needs. The Orton-Gillingham approach is a direct, explicit, multisensory, structured, sequential, diagnostic, and prescriptive way to teach literacy to children with dyslexia. The OG approach is a powerful tool of exceptional breadth, depth, and flexibility. I also tutor using the Barton Reading and Spelling System. I'm currently working towards certification with the OGA (Orton Gillingham Academy).

I also teach multisensory math to students with dyslexia, dyscalculia, anxiety, ADHD and other learning disabilities, from elementary grades through Algebra 1. I have taken Multisensory Math 1 and Multisensory Math 2 with Marilyn Zecher through the Atlantic Seaboard Dyslexia Education Center. I have also taken many classes from Making Math Real Institute. I will give you a list of supplies to have so your child can use the hands on materials along with me during our online sessions!
