I bring a rich and diverse background in education and mentorship, shaped by years of experience working with students across various age groups and settings. From 2016 to 2019, I served as a sports counselor for New York Edge, where I worked closely with children from grades K-5. During this time, I honed my ability to connect with young learners by combining structured activities with creative play. My approach was informed by my own background as a student-athlete, emphasizing teamwork, discipline, and perseverance. These principles not only guided my sports instruction but also helped me foster a positive and inclusive environment for all participants.
In addition to my summer role, I was an after-school counselor during the 2017 to 2018 academic year, further developing my ability to engage with students in a structured educational setting. Here, I supported students in balancing their academic and extracurricular activities, ensuring their time after school was both enriching and productive. Building on this foundation, I later joined The Children’s Village, where I was placed as a Prime Youth Leader for an afterschool program. Working with 5th graders, I shifted my focus to academic success, assisting students with their assignments and fostering skills that promoted their growth as independent learners.
Throughout my experience, I have adopted a student-centered approach, tailoring my methods to meet the unique needs of each child. Whether teaching through active engagement in sports or guiding students in academic pursuits, I have consistently prioritized their development, confidence, and success. My roles have equipped me with the patience, adaptability, and dedication necessary to be an effective and impactful tutor.
