“**Very patient.**”

I have taught in the school system and have tutored for the past 16 years. I have experienced first hand the frustration students have felt as they struggled with math. However, working in the school system I was limited in what I could do about this, so I decided that my talent was better served providing one-on-one tutoring. I tutor K-12 math

So far I have had one lesson with Venecia but plan on having about 5-6 more lessons after meeting her. She is very personable, patient and she explains every step very well, which is very important to me because math is not my strong point. I look forward to my next lesson with Venecia and will post an updated review after all my lessons are complete!

While this was our first visit with Venecia, I saw an immediate ease between her and our son. It's the very first time that I've heard laughter during a math lesson. My son finished the lesson confident and eager to see her again for their next lesson.

It was Great meeting Venecia, She is very well verse with the testing system as well as the curriculum. She was kind and gentle with my daughter, who felt a jump ahead and empowered from the input Venicia had to offer. We look forward to seeing her again. Thanks, Venecia

Just started tutoring with Venecia and my daughter is excited for the next session. She has never been excited about tutoring so this is HUGE for us lol. Venecia has master the ability to make tutoring fun. We are very grateful for her

Venecia was great! My daughter felt very comfortable with her, that was important to me.

Look forward to more sessions with her.

I've now had 3 sessions with Venecia and I've seen improvement in my daughters attitude towards math. She is more confident and willing to practice her math lessons than before.

I love that Venecia is very patient and understanding to my daughters needs because every child is different , when you tutor with that in mind you will definitely achieve success.

Venecia is a very knowledgeable tutor and is very easy to work with. After just several sessions my son seems to have a clearer understanding of his sixth grade math. We look forward to continued progress.

Venecia is a great math tutor. Her explanations make math accessible and her calm demeanor really helps as well. I would HIGHLY recommend Venecia.

Venecia has helped my daughter gain confidence that she didn't have in herself, she is an amazing person. I don't think she knows what she has done to help take the pressure off. Thank you Venecia!

Approved subjects are in **bold**.

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.

I have tutored Algebra 1 for 16 years to individual students as well as groups. I've also worked as a high school teacher's assistant in the math department for 5 years. Algebra is my favorite topic to teach in math. My students have told me that my teaching style is very different from their teachers' and they understand it better the way I teach it. I always look for different ways to explain math to students because not all students learn the same way. I cater to their individual needs. I have helped students who were at the point of failing pass math as well as the Regents exam.

I have tutored basic, elementary math and English for the past 16 years. I've done test prep in both subjects. In math, I teach students techniques in learning addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, fractions, percents, algebra and geometry. I also teach converting units, plotting points on a graph, proportions, and other areas.

In English, I teach the parts of speech, subject/predicate, subject-verb agreement, punctuation rules, vocabulary, reading comprehension, and writing skills.

I currently teach GED math to Deaf adults at LaGuardia Community College. I also teach basic math and English to adults who do not have a high school diploma or GED and must take an entrance exam in order to enter a medical assistant training program.
