I taught English to foreign executives for many years through World Learning, Inc. Two of my students worked for Perstorp, a leading Swedish chemical company, which was establishing sales and manufacturing of Pergo flooring products in the United States and South America. I taught a Greek pediatrician, an Ernst & Young consultant from Spain, and an Esso manager from Argentina. For a year, I taught a Venezuelan auditor with CSX Corporation.  I also taught an intensive English class at West Virginia University where the majority of the students were Chinese government officials studying English while touring steel production and coal mining operations.

I love language and will approach your studies of English with passion.

I spent many years as a journalist. I was a regular contributor to The New York Times business section, articles ranging from the transition of natural products companies (e.g., Burt’s Bees, Tom’s of Maine) into mainstream commerce to tracking investments of Warren Buffett. For Congressional Quarterly, I wrote lengthy reports on subjects that included living wages, affordable housing, mental health, and women in sports. For Business Week, I wrote about a tiny Guatemalan village transformed by ecotourism, how the aging population is changing our communities, and other features.

In a second career, I helped manage organic farms producing specialty crops of food and flowers. I currently combine the two by writing for a niche magazine for ecological farmers in North America. I'm interested in tutoring while continuing to write part-time.

Excellent teacher

I'm very lucky that I found Jane as my English teacher. She is excellent. She knows exactly what I need, and she challenges and corrects me when I need it. She is always very well prepared, and can explain grammar in a very practical way. It's a pleasure to meet her and to learn new things. I can feel her passion for languages in every lesson and she motivates me to reach my goals.

Exceptional tutor

Jane is an exceptional tutor. She has assisted me with writing for a few weeks now, and has helped my English improve tremendously. Her experience with non-native speakers is key, as English is not my mother tongue. Also, her expertise in both journalism and fiction helps me contextualise my writing accordingly. I thoroughly recommend her as a tutor.

Highly recommended!

I have been taking classes with Jane for just over a year and as a result have greatly improved my English. Having the confidence to engage in conversations is what I struggled with. Jane worked with me and now I have much more confidence to speak with others in English. She is an excellent, patient and caring instructor. Highly recommended!

Could not have asked for a better teacher!

Jane was my tutor for 5 months and I could not have asked for a better teacher. English is not my mother tongue and I wanted to improve it so I can build my career in the US. Jane understood my needs very well and she was able to adjust every class to focus on my English weaknesses as I wanted. She was always perfectly prepared, had different interactive games and exercises for me which I found very helpful. She was able to create very friendly environment where I did not feel ashamed to practice my English. She was able to explain me difficult grammar rules and idioms in a very clear and easy way. I like that she gave me a lot of useful hits how I could work on my English at home. I can highly recommend Jane for beginners and advance English students.

Knowledgeable proofreader and patient tutor.

I arrived early to our 6PM scheduled appointment as did Jane. Jane was at our agreed meetup location before I arrived. Jane is a top notch princess pro proofreader. Besides correcting some punctuation and run together sentence errors and switching out a few words. Jane gave me tips on everything as I took notes. I look forward to continuing to learn from Jane as she proofreads the rest of this E book. With Jane's proofreading expertise and guidance this literary project will be mint when she completes her work. I will also become a much better writer through this process. I am following Jane's instructions as the good student I am. Thank you, Jane!
