Christie Johnson is an Assistant Principal with eighteen years of experience working in a large urban school district. Christie is an Elizabeth City State University graduate with a Bachelor of Science in Exercise Science. Due to Christie's enjoyment of learning, she continued her education, earning a Master's Degree in School Administration from Gardner Webb University and a Master's of Education in Elementary Education and Early Childhood Education from UNC-Charlotte. in 2025 Christie earned an Education Specialist Degree in Curriculum and Instruction. Christie specializes in exceptional children's processes and is responsible for educating others on how to identify, evaluate, and provide exceptional children's services to students. Christie holds eight teaching certifications, including a National Board Certification as an Exceptional Children's Specialist. Christie is also a published curriculum developer who has published six curricular units. Christie enjoys modifying the curriculum in various content areas to accommodate students' learning needs. In 2016, Christie was recognized as the North Carolina Department of Juvenile Justice's Teacher of The Year for excellence in education as a science educator within the Juvenile Justice System. Christie is a member of NCAE, CMAE, Kappa Delta Pi (Education Honor Society) and NBCT- Mentor. Within the community, Christie serves as a Guardian Ad Litem for children who are legal wards of the state. Through her work as a GAL, Christie works to help close the literacy gap and advocates for educational reform that will benefit all children.
