I am a first-year medical student with extensive experience mentoring, advising, and teaching students from diverse backgrounds. As a first-generation college student, I understand firsthand how overwhelming academic paths can be without guidance. During undergrad, I served for three years as a peer advisor in my College of Science, meeting one-on-one with freshmen and transfer students to help them plan schedules, navigate pre-med requirements, and balance academic and personal goals. In my final year, I co-taught a semester-long introduction course for new students, held office hours, and sat on student panels, creating safe, judgment-free spaces where students felt empowered to ask questions and find their footing.
Beyond formal advising roles, I have volunteered with high school students to help them craft compelling college application essays, and I’ve mentored fellow pre-medical students on building strong activities lists, writing authentic personal statements, and preparing for interviews. I tailor sessions to individual needs and learning styles, whether that means breaking down complex biology concepts, brainstorming essay topics, or strategizing for standardized tests.
I also bring real-world clinical experience to my teaching, having worked full-time in pediatric and adult emergency departments, where clear communication and teamwork are essential. These experiences have honed my ability to explain complicated topics in accessible, relatable ways, and to adapt quickly to different learning needs. My goal as a tutor is not only to help students master the material but also to cultivate the critical thinking, self-advocacy, and organizational skills that will serve them long after our sessions end. Whether you’re looking for support in high school science, pre-med coursework, test prep, or application advising, I am committed to meeting you where you are and helping you get where you want to go.
