I am an experienced Massachusetts high school history and law teacher, grades 9 -12. I have taught organization/study skills to new 9th graders, laying the groundwork for strategies in note taking, homework organization, time management, test preparation, and memorization/presentation skills. I devoted considerable amount of time working on individual study and concept skills with SPED students after school, particularly with reference to multiple-choice test taking strategies and essay writing protocols for persuasive essays. My largest study/writing skills project while a classroom teacher was for 11th and 12th graders in a heterogeneous law class. Over a three month period and with a variety of research and study milestones, i taught students note-taking skills, source evaluation skills, research methods, how to read a legal case and evaluate court decisions and how to manage long term projects with specific support materials. In the last 2 years, I have been individually tutoring students (in the Boston metro area) with attention issues, emotional issues, motivation problems, and poor executive function skills. Among the skills I teach are: time management, organization of materials, homework strategies, including homework contracts and communication contracts with parents and teachers, test preparation and on-going writing skills. The most important skill I teach is how to work towards concept comprehension through clear and practiced protocols -gathering and distilling information for assessments.

Terrific executive functioning coach

Julianne really knows how to help my daughter prioritize and had great strategies and tips for staying on top of work. She's a straight shooter. She is very supportive.

Great collaboration to suppport my ADD student

I really appreciate the collaborative approach Julianne has taken as we work together to help my student with her executive functioning struggles. This is not an easy area to address and her patience and ideas are greatly appreciated.

wished we found her sooner

I have already seen a change in my daughter becca. She is more confident and independent even after only a handful of lessons to help her with her executive functioning disorder.thankful

Julianne is fantastic!

Julianne is a very excellent writing tutor. To her great credit, she is friendly, encouraging and professional at all times. She sees the student as a whole person and adapts to the individual. I recommend her highly.

Wonderful educator (and person)

Julianne has been a wonderful tutor to my 15-year-old daughter. She has taken the time to truly get to know her and her unique learning challenges. Because of Julianne's thoroughness she has been able to provide my daughter with studying tools and strategies that greatly complement her learning style. Julianne is a warm and caring person whose fun but matter-of-fact style helps diffuse any negative feelings my daughter may have about herself and her school work. I have seen an AMAZING increase in my daughter's confidence (and grades) over the past 6 months thanks to Julianne's guidance.
