My name is Omar. I am a senior at the Roxbury Latin School in West Roxbury and am graduating Cum Laude. I have received offers from universities like Yale, UPenn, Amherst, Williams, Johns Hopkins, and Bowdoin. Over my six years at Roxbury Latin, I have gained proficiency in subjects such as Math, English, languages, and sciences. In particular, I have taken college level math courses such as discrete mathematics after completing AP Calculus BC. I have also taken French and Latin, scoring 5s on both AP exams. Throughout my years of education, I’ve realized that the learning experience is very much dictated by the teacher. In fact, I remember the most and had the most fun when the teacher was both knowledgeable and engaging. Although this combination does not come around often, I try to bring this effect in my own tutoring. In addition to the lessons, I will provide students with material and resources that I’ve used in my own journey to further their understanding and interest in a topic.

As for my experience, I have tutored younger students for four years now and participated in a tutoring program called Project Deep where I helped middle school students in Dorchester with their homework in subjects ranging from English to Science.

My first goal is to help the students learn as much as possible and reach their own goals. In my lessons, therefore, I am open to suggestions from parents and students to how their students learn best or what their desired outcome is.
