Hi there! My name is John, and I am an incoming investment banker with over 4 years of experience tutoring and teaching college-level students. I graduated summa cum laude from Boston University’s Questrom School of Business, earning the highest GPA in my graduating class. My academic background is in finance and economics, with extensive coursework in financial and managerial accounting, business valuation, corporate finance, options and derivatives pricing, and advanced financial modeling, including three-statement models, forecasting, DCFs, and LBOs.

During and after college, I have tutored undergraduate students on a one-on-one basis in finance, accounting, and economics, tailoring my approach to each student’s background and learning style. I have also served as a TA for courses in equities and securities analysis, financial statement analysis, financial modeling, and portfolio management. In addition, I spent two years as a lecturer for Boston University’s Finance and Investment Society, where I taught classes of approximately 50 undergraduate students in a classroom setting, focusing on equity research, stock pitch development, valuation methodologies, and portfolio construction. In this role, I mentored multiple student teams preparing for competitive stock pitch competitions, including one team that went on to win at Cornell University.

My tutoring philosophy is simple: it is easiest to learn principles of finance, accounting, & economics when they feel real. My approach to tutoring in these subjects has always been predicated in providing real-world examples, which my experience in the industry has more than equipped me to do. When I meet a new student, my first objective is to set goals, be they academic or professional. From there, I like to create practice calendars for my students to help encourage consistency and keep abreast of key benchmarks. I believe tutoring should be iterative and stress-free, so I am highly flexible and see the value in working with my students on their time!
