Hello! My name is Catherine, and I am a dedicated and enthusiastic science educator with over three years of full-time teaching experience in the Boston and Cambridge Public School systems. I have had the privilege of working with a diverse range of students—from curious preschoolers exploring the basics of nature to motivated 8th graders diving deeper into scientific concepts. Additionally, I have experience tutoring high school and college students in various science subjects, giving me a strong understanding of how to support learners at different stages of their academic journey.

I hold a bachelor's degree in Environmental Science and Geology, and am currently pursuing my Master’s in Earth Science Education. My academic background, combined with my classroom experience, has given me a strong foundation in both the content and pedagogy of science instruction. I’m especially passionate about earth and environmental sciences and love helping students connect what they learn in the classroom to the world around them.

My teaching approach is hands-on, student-centered, and inquiry-based. During the school year, I lead lessons both indoors and outdoors, incorporating place-based education whenever possible. I believe that science comes alive when students can directly observe and interact with their environment. For example, I currently teach gardening and nature-based science to elementary students, introducing them to local plant and animal life while fostering a sense of curiosity, care, and responsibility for the natural world.

Whether your student needs support catching up, wants to stay on track, or is looking to dive deeper into scientific exploration, I strive to create a welcoming, engaging, and supportive learning environment tailored to their unique needs and interests whether online or in person. I look forward to sharing my passion for science and learning with your family.
