Hi, my name is Nathan and I'm currently a sophomore at Carnegie Mellon University. After going through the SAT process, I wanted to share the skills and lessons I've learned about the test over the years. I began doing SAT tutoring on Zoom, offering one on one lessons to my classmates and friends. This process has been incredibly rewarding: tutoring allows me to relearn concepts in a different way, one which requires me to interpret concepts in a way that both I and my fellow students can understand.

The first time I took an SAT my sophomore year, I scored a 730 on the SAT math section. While I was happy with this score, I knew that the mistakes I'd made were easily correctable because of how predictable the SAT is. I tailored my studying to this and subsequently scored a perfect 800 in October 2020 and a 790 in March 2021. My 70 point increase was simply an adjustment in studying habits, not a magical change or 10 hour preparation days, and I believe these changes can be made by any student.

As for English, I scored a 670 on that first test my sophomore year. Like Math, I completely revamped my strategy and it ultimately paid off. In March 2021, I scored a 770 on the EBRW with just 4 total mistakes on the section. Also like math, less obviously though, there are patterns and question types that can be studied and mastered over time.

I work as a certified tutor teaching algebra and geometry at Mathnasium. My Perfect SAT math score required heavy amounts of algebra prep, considering algebra is one the three core areas of the section. I also run an SAT YouTube channel teaching algebra skills as well.

great PSAT tutor

Nathan is helping our son with PSAT prep, and so far so good with the initial lesson. He’s very proactive with scheduling and pre planning and already had a game plan for the lesson. Our son left confident and we’re looking forward to future lessons.
