I have ten years experience tutoring high school and college students in chemistry (organic, inorganic, physical or analytical), physics and mathematics (geometry, calculus and algebra) on both a one on one level as well as in big groups. My undergraduate was a major in chemistry with a minor in math after which I completed a masters in chemistry. I was the top student in all my chemistry classes, so I have a clear understanding of all the concepts to do with chemistry. I will be able to help you or your child to understand these concepts, using real life examples, and will also be able to coach you to the techniques which will enable you to answer them every time.
I tutor because I love working with children. I am happy to work with anyone who is willing to work and am very patient with students as they try to understand new concepts. I have been in the Glenview area the past four years and have tutored high schoolers from Notre Dame, New Trier, GBS, GBN, Deerfield High, Loyola Academy and Woodlands Academy of the Sacred Heart. So if you are really struggling with chemistry or math or just want to improve your grades I'm the guy for you. When tutoring groups of students I charge an additional $10 per hour for each additional student.
My daughter just had her first tutoring session with Jason. She was very nervous as the topic (Chemistry), and the tutor, are new. But Jason was kind and patient and helped to ease her nerves. Jason was prepared and had content ready to go to get her started. We're looking forward to continuing to work with him in the months ahead.
The best thing I can say about Jason is that my son said "I definitely want Jason next year to help me prepare for ACT and anything else I need mom. He is so smart but he brought it to my level." Jason has worked with my son for maybe 8 lessons in both Geometry & Chemistry, areas he struggled with, he spent extra time with him, worked with him and brought him two grades higher. He gave him the confidence to do what he knew he could.
My daughter's high school math teacher told her that she is just not good at math. Then we hired Jason. Jason has taught her that she just needs extra practice to understand the math. He explains the material in a way that she can understand and he helps her fill in the gaps in her math knowledge. She has gone from being a C student to being an A student. She feels more confident in her ability to tackle difficult problems in math and in general. Jason is an amazingly talented math tutor. My daughter enjoys working with him and felt a real sense of mastery when she got an A+ on her final exam.
Jason is an excellent tutor. He is professional, focused, and patient. My daughter felt he was able to explain why they were doing the math steps as they went along. She is in a college level logic class, and I think there is some implied math knowledge that she should have gotten in high school that she needed to have explained to her, so she could be successful in her college class. Definitely worth the money.
Jason is an excellent physics tutor. He is patient, explains concepts very well, and makes every effort to help students during tutoring. If there are questions about homework, Jason is available via email. Jason communicates well with students and parents. He is willing to be as accommodating as possible. He is in high demand, and for good reason! Look no further for a tutor in any of the subjects that he teaches!
Jason was able to help us out on short notice and did an incredible job helping out our daughter. He squeezed us into his schedule for 4 sessions right before finals!!
Jason has helped my son a lot in calc. He was very easy to work with and would even assist him over the phone if he had questions about his homework or tests. 5 out of 5 stars.
We just completed 6 months of tutoring with Jason P to help our student complete an independent study math course in addition to his regular high school coursework. So, this wasn't just tutoring to supplement school work, this was instruction in new course material as well. Jason engaged our student throughout the period in a manner that a teacher rarely has with a student. Patient, able to connect and thorough. Jason was able to be friendly but at the same time command respect and concentration. We are very pleased with the outcome and recommend him as a teacher and tutor.
We so appreciated Jason's professionalism. He beautifully presented and explained physics in a through and well organized manner. He is an outstanding educator. My daughter benefited greatly from her lesson with Jason.
Jason routinely goes the extra mile in helping our son with his work in trigonometry. He checks work and answers questions by email outside of tutorial. He identifies problems and weaknesses in advance and helps to address them. He is clearly invested in our son's success, and his efforts have paid off in some of the best grades our son has ever received in high school math (he's a senior now). I only wish we had found Jason sooner.
In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
