NOTE: In November I will be returning to my work with Chicago Public Schools when they open again in-person, but I am available to tutor and help with/supplement remote learning (in-person) until then! I have eighteen years of teaching experience (first, fourth, and sixth grades), and am fully background-checked as an employee of CPS.
As a certified teacher with eighteen years of experience in public school classrooms (first grade, fourth grade, and sixth grade), I've turned many students into mathematics rock stars! Will you be next? Because I've worked with many different students with many unique ways of learning, I've developed many strategies for teaching math, and I would be honored to help you by finding which method works for YOU. I am a former employee of Wilmette District 39 and a current employee of Chicago Public Schools.
I know, I know math can be a real pain! But maybe, just maybe, all you need is someone who can break the problem down into tiny little steps or help you with the math vocabulary...or show you the steps in three different ways...or turn the topic into a game or activity so that something boring becomes something fun.
Are any of these topics tripping you up? If so, I've taught hundred and hundreds of kids how to master them, and I can teach you too!
Do you need help with fractions, decimals, and percents? I can show you how to change from one form to another, and I can help you add, subtract, multiply, and divide fractions and decimals. If you are studying geometry, I can help you with area, perimeter, circumference, and volume formulas (I LOVE teaching formulas!) and with angles in triangles and quadrilaterals. If you are struggling with measurement, I can show you an easy-peasy way to convert from one unit to another. We can also work on all operations with integers (like multiplying negative and positive numbers), as well as regular operations like long division (I promise I will help you understand it!).
Ratios, rates, and proportions can be confusing and we will
