Bio

I am currently a tenured mathematics professor at a local university, and I have been at this institution since 2001. I have an undergraduate degree in mathematics and a Ph.D. in mathematics. I have been been tutoring mathematics in many situations since I was in high school. I have experience teaching and tutoring mathematics across the curriculum at the college/university, high school, and developmental levels. I am currently a tenured mathematics professor at a local university, and I have been at this institution since 2001. I have an undergraduate degree in mathematics and a Ph.D. in mathematics. I have been been tutoring mathematics in many situations since I was in high school. I have experience teaching and tutoring mathematics across the curriculum at the college/university, high school, and developmental levels. I also have experience mentoring undergraduate research students in mathematics primarily in mathematical biology and low dimensional topology. I also have several years of experience serving as a reader for Advanced Placement exams.

I am interested in tutoring in any area of mathematics and will gladly work to help students succeed in their mathematics studies and on their ACT and SAT exams. I am eager to help my students succeed with their course work and develop study habits, strategies, and confidence that will help them beyond their current course content. Throughout my teaching and tutoring experience, I have worked with high school, college/university, and adult students. For students needing tutoring help with a summer mathematics course, remediation, or just getting ready or ahead for the next school year, I am accepting new students.

I am able to tutor across the high school and college/university curricula, including algebra (all levels), geometry, precalculus, calculus (all parts of calculus), business calculus, calculus for the life sciences, trigonometry, ACT and SAT mathematics, discrete mathematics, linear algebra, abstract algebra, real and complex analysis, modern geometry, differential geometry, topology, probability and statistics, and mathematics content for elementary teachers. I am also able to help students prepare for advanced placement examinations. I am currently writing a calculus for the life sciences textbook. For computational technology, I can help students with graphing calculators, computer algebra systems, and dynamic geometry software.

I have wide range of experience tutoring and teaching students from diverse backgrounds and mathematical preparation. I have tutored high school students, college students, and returning adult students. I look forward to helping you succeed and develop confidence with your mathematical skills and understanding.

Integrals for Volume

Tim is very knowledgeable and smart as a whip. Today we worked on determining integrals for volumes of revolution. Most of the problems involved computations using the shell method and one required the determination of the best method.
