My experience as a teacher varies from private teaching to teaching in high schools and higher education. Each environment has its pros and cons - but the benefit of private tutoring is seeing the rapid advancements of students.
I maintain a highly motivated, humorous work style and build a safe environment, in which the student feels free to communicate any thoughts in the target language. Encouragement is a factor I find largely determined by the nature of the teacher-student relationship...

Great Intermediate Dutch Teacher
If you're like me, you know what it's like to get stuck in intermediate Dutch. All the language-learning tools seem to be for beginners. I finally decided to seek professional help from a native-speaker, and now I have been meeting with Peter once a week for a couple of months. After years of having an inaccessible vocabulary and a faint understanding of the language, I am finally feeling it click thanks to these lessons. Peter is knowledgeable of all the common hang-ups and misunderstandings that students of Dutch face and has cleared up confusions I've had for years. More importantly, he's incredibly flexible and creative with what he teaches me. I'm not in school, and therefore I don't have weekly homework. Peter has really risen to the occasion each week to create something like a lesson plan, and he takes my feedback very well. I could not have been more fortunate in finding a teacher.

Helpful and Patient Tutor
I started my dutch lessons with no knowledge of dutch whatsoever, but Peter helped me to learn quickly and sent me many resources to support my learning. He was very patient with me even though I butchered a lot of the pronunciations at first. Would definitely suggest him as a tutor :)

Good knowledge about the English language
Before the lessen I receiver several papers to read. In the lesson we talked about the subjects in these papers. A very goid way to learn and a pleasant way of teaching by a good teacher!

Patient and multilingual
Peter is the perfect tutor for me. He is fluent in English Dutch and German. I'm trying to learn Dutch as a complete beginner so having someone who can help me remember new words when they are more similar to German than to English is enormously helpful. I also like to focus on improving my pronunciation to have as little of an accent as possible and Peter is helping me with that as well.

Peter is the best!
I wanted a tutor who would speak to me in German and who would force me to speak German to him. Peter strikes me as a very patient teacher - knowledgeable about many topics. He also has a good sense of humor. I recommend him highly.

Authentic and patient teacher
Peter understands the importance of immersion when learning a new language and strives to make lessons as fully immersive as possible. He directed me to numerous resources for practice outside our lessons, including reading (both textbooks and material made for native speakers, etc), writing and listening. He tailored lessons to specific travel goals and was able to explain and demonstrate the differences between Dutch, Flemish, and Antwerp dialects. Highly recommend!
