I'm an educator with 10+ years of experience, a Fulbrighter, and a two-time AmeriCorps alumna. I received my MA degree from the University of Chicago and work in student affairs/higher education at a private research institution. Previously, I was a program manager at a local non-profit consulting high school students on college applications. Experience in admissions offices and residence life at two private universities in the US informs my knowledge of what higher education institutions are looking for. I have consulted domestic and international students to top public and private institutions (UChicago, Duke, Johns Hopkin, UCLA, UC Berkeley, Boston University, etc).

Writing:
I leverage my training in international relations, history, political science, linguistics, religion, and anthropology to guide my students' critical thinking skills, strengthen their writing skills, and refine their research. I work with students on writing for applications, coursework, scholarships/fellowships, jobs (resumes and cover letters). I also provide academic counseling for undergraduate and graduate programs.
I have worked with students on federal language grants as well (NSLIY, CLS, FLAS, Gilman, Fulbright, Boren).

Languages:
I speak 8 languages. This facilitates correcting common English mistakes made based on a student's native language. For example, students of Turkish origins struggle with assigning gender because Turkish is not a gendered language whereas Arabic speakers struggle with 'the' and 'a' given the abundance and specific rules their usage carries in Arabic. I am trained to teach the following subjects:
- Spanish: all levels, standard and dialect
- Turkish: Beginner, Intermediate
- Arabic: Beginner & Intermediate MSA, Beginner Egyptian (Cairene)
- ESL: all levels

I'm comfortable with all age groups and have taught hundreds of students - from kindergarten to first year of college - in 4 countries.
