Hi! My name is Desideria, and I am a graduate student passionate about helping others succeed academically and professionally. I hold a Bachelor’s degree in Human Development and Family Studies (HDFS) from the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign (UIUC) and am currently a full-time Master of Social Work (MSW) student at the University of Illinois Chicago (UIC) Jane Addams College of Social Work. As I finish my first year, I have maintained a 4.0 GPA and consistently received 100% scores on my graduate-level papers.

During undergrad, I was premed and later attended medical school in the Caribbean for a semester before realizing that social work better fit my goals. My academic background has given me firsthand experience with undergraduate and graduate school applications, and I was accepted into every undergraduate school I applied to. I also successfully applied and interviewed for my current internship, where I write professional therapy documentation and case notes, gaining hands-on experience in clinical and professional writing.

I specialize in college and graduate school applications, essay writing, interview preparation, resume building, and academic research. I help students with research projects, analyze scholarly literature, and strengthen writing skills for undergrad and graduate-level coursework. My experience in social sciences, premed coursework, and professional writing allows me to guide students in refining their writing, improving study skills, and developing strong academic and professional documents.

I work with high school students applying to college, undergraduates seeking academic support, and adults looking to enhance their writing, resumes, and applications. Whether you need help crafting a compelling personal statement, improving academic writing, preparing for an interview, or strengthening your professional documents, I am here to help. Let’s work together to make the process easier and help you succeed!

ADHD

ADHD

I hold a Bachelor's degree in Human Development and Family Studies (HDFS) and am currently pursuing my Master of Social Work (MSW). I have personal experience living with ADHD and have supported peers in both undergrad and grad school with strategies to manage focus, executive functioning, and academic success. Clinically, I’ve worked with adults diagnosed with ADHD—often alongside other mental health conditions—during my MSW internship. I also have experience working with children with ADHD through years of babysitting and child development training. My approach is strengths-based, neurodiversity-affirming, and tailored to each person’s unique brain.
Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD)

Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD)

I hold a Bachelor's degree in Human Development and Family Studies (HDFS) and am currently pursuing my Master of Social Work (MSW). I have worked directly with adults diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) through my MSW internship, many of whom also had co-occurring mental health conditions. Additionally, I’ve babysat a child on the spectrum for the past four years and have supported other children with autism through both caregiving and my academic training in child development. I take a patient, strengths-based approach, focused on structure, communication, and fostering learning strategies that align with each individual's unique needs.
Essay Writing

Essay Writing

I am currently earning my Master of Social Work (MSW) and previously earned a Bachelor's in Human Development and Family Studies (HDFS). Throughout both programs, I have received perfect or near-perfect scores on over 98% of all academic papers. I have extensive experience writing across a variety of formats, including research essays, analytical papers, reflective writing, and school application statements. I help students write with clarity, structure, and purpose, ensuring their ideas are communicated powerfully and effectively.
Personal Statements

Personal Statements

I have successfully written personal statements that earned me admission into every undergraduate program I applied to, a Caribbean medical school, and the two Master of Social Work (MSW) programs I applied to—UIUC and UIC—both ranked in the top 10% nationally. I earned my Bachelor’s degree from UIUC and currently attend UIC’s MSW program. I also have extensive experience crafting compelling statements for job and internship applications across academic and professional settings. My approach focuses on helping clients clearly and authentically tell their story, highlight their strengths, and align their goals with the mission of the program or position. I guide students through brainstorming, drafting, and refining powerful, effective personal statements.
Proofreading

Proofreading

I graduated from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign with a Bachelor’s degree in Human Development and Family Studies. During undergrad, I also worked as a research assistant for a professor, which helped me develop strong academic writing and research skills. I’m currently a full-time Master of Social Work student, where I write graduate-level papers regularly. I currently hold a 4.0 GPA and consistently receive top scores on my assignments. I’d be happy to use these skills to support your daughter with her essay!
Reading

Reading

I’m currently a masters student getting my masters in social work. So I have a high level of reading comprehension, as I read academic literature and research for all of my grad level papers and assignments. I’m also someone who loves to read and deeply understands literature of all genres, and have always been very good at reading class materials/books, throughout my academic career. I also have my bachelor’s degree in human development and family studies, so I am also equipped with the skills to help individuals at different developmental stages as well as helping those with executive functioning, or any intellectual disabilities (if applicable).
Writing

Writing

Lit reviews are genuinely my favorite part of any graduate-level paper. I always take the lead on that section in group projects and consistently receive high praise from professors for how well I synthesize research and present it clearly and cohesively. I’ve also been praised for the strength, clarity, and depth of my personal written papers, which reflect my ability to communicate complex ideas effectively and with academic precision. I’m currently a full-time MSW student at a top 10% ranked university, so I’m very familiar with advanced academic writing and APA formatting. Whether you’re looking to refine the structure, deepen your analysis, or elevate the overall flow, I’d love to support you in strengthening this part of your dissertation. Best, Desideria
