We are going to work so well together. I taught grades 7-12 English in New Jersey for over 20 years, and I have tutored hundreds of students in reading, writing, and test prep.

I have a Bachelor of Arts degree from Texas A&M University, and my teaching certification is from Rowan University in New Jersey. I also hold an ESL certification from Rutgers University in New Jersey.

In addition to teaching, I was also the chair person of the English and World Languages departments at Burlington City High School in New Jersey for several years.

In that capacity, I oversaw the alignment of our district's curriculum to the Common Core for grades 6-12, reviewed lesson plans for both departments, and coordinated department purchases of supplies, textbooks, and teaching materials. During this time, I continued teaching English classes and worked as a mentor for new teachers.

My teaching experience includes American, British, and World literature, reading comprehension and writing techniques, and basic skills in reading, grammar, and writing. I have also taught ESL students at the high school level, in conjunction with the district ESL specialist.

I was also responsible for yearly groups of seniors who were not able to pass the state-mandated test during their junior year. As such, I worked closely with these students in a workshop-style setting to enable them to pass the alternate assessment provided during their senior year by the state of New Jersey. I am proud to say that most of these students were able to graduate with their peers after successfully completing this program.

I am an avid reader and I love the English language. Now that I have retired from teaching and am a full-time resident of Florida, I am excited to continue and extend my teaching career by working with individual students who are interested in becoming more proficient readers and writers.
