Hi, I'm Bryce! I completed a Bachelor's and Master's in American History, with an emphasis on British Colonial History and the 19th Century in my research. These are some of my favorite subjects outside of American History. I'm a history teacher who has worked in a high school classroom setting and with homeschooling students for the past few years. With homeschooling students, I have experience working in all the subjects, though history studies are my area of expertise. I have volunteered with a missionary organization in Africa for much of my adult life which has allowed me to become fluent and literate in French. In my free time, I enjoy going to museums, traveling occasionally, and hiking.
I enjoy helping students through curriculums, projects, and essay writing to improve their results, knowledge, and confidence. From my time as a student, I feel students are often intimidated by subjects or don't know how to start and progress through writing projects but with a little guidance this can be overcome. I find the stories throughout history to be fascinating and enjoy stimulating students' curiosity while they also build their critical thinking and problem-solving skills. I prefer to have a free initial meeting to discuss the topics you'd like help on and the curriculum or testing program that you're working on before starting lessons. From this point, we can examine any syllabi, standardized tests, and the topics and sources being studied to make a schedule and plan to succeed in your course. I believe my experience in academic history and public history can bring a broader view to accompany a textbook and make sense of topics that may be confusing.
