I'm a relocated Coloradoan who loves the ocean! Proofreading and editing are gifts that come naturally to me, and I continue to sharpen as an editing consultant to the Baker Institute of Public Policy at Rice University in Houston. I earned a Master's Degree from the prestigious Josef Korbel School of International Studies at the University of Denver in International Studies. I focused on Comparative and International Politics with emphases in Intelligence, Security, Global Health, and Professional Communications. I also have a B.A. from Regis University, where coursework in History, U.S. Government, and International Politics were part of my degree work.

My goal of tutoring, beyond the immediate need, is to produce critical thinkers. I welcome input from students and parents.

POLICIES: I tutor exclusively online. My hours begin at 11 AM PT, and my last slot starts at 4 PM PT except on Fridays. No tutoring past 5 PM PT. My minimum rate is $45 per hour. This rate extends to research, proofreading, editing, designing, and lessons. Of course, you are welcome to talk to me about capping hours or budgeting, and I will do my best to help you. I abide by all Academic Honesty policies set up by each school and policies set up by Wyzant, including that all tutoring of minors MUST have an adult in the room. I will send you a PDF upon scheduling. Potential students can request a free 25-minute consultation to ensure we are a good fit. Cancellation requires 24-hour notice, or I will charge the total amount of the lesson to the student's account. Additionally, I will cancel and charge the time scheduled if a student is 15 minutes or later to an online lesson.

I skipped US History in high school and moved directly into AP US History after several weeks - the first sophomore ever at my high school to do so, as US History was not offered to freshmen. I went on to pass the AP US History test with a 4. As a Politics major at Regis University (where I graduated with honors), our World War II Seminar was the focus on a 9News segment and I was handpicked out of our seminar class to be interviewed on television. History is an integral part of my undergraduate politics degree and my gradate international relations degree. As well as tutoring directly in US History, I also read it for fun and work in it to coach Model UN students at a high school level.

I have attended Bible Study Fellowship since I was a child and have completed almost all of the studies. As well, I was a leader for part of the 2011 year. As well, I have completed other Bible studies on my own and worked at Denver Seminary for several years as an Assistant to the President and married a Chaplain candidate.

I regularly tutor students in English/Literature/Language Arts at a variety of levels. Having worked as a librarian, the mere exposure to books is one of the best things that you can do for your child! A fan of Wittgenstein, I agree that words are imperfect, but all that we have; therefore, it is imperative to learn the best ways to communicate in order to express ourselves. Excellent reading and writing, along with word comprehension and vocabulary, are pillars for success, and I love helping students learn and grow in these areas, as well as recommending books and articles on subjects that they love in order to grow their literary interests.
European History

I have a BA with honors from Regis University and a MA in International Studies from the prestigious Korbel School of International Studies at the University of Denver. My background is very strong in European history and current affairs, and I have tutored others in European government and currently tutor graduate students in international affairs. As well, I've worked with Model UN students using my extensive European history knowledge to prepare for their conferences. I love history, and love to help people learn it - using fun examples and stories! (I even study it for fun on my own!)

With a BA in Politics and a MA in International Studies from one of the nation's most elite schools, geography is a foundational piece of my education. Knowing not only the physical but political geography of a country or region is one of the most important life skills to have - it comes up in friendships, in business, and even in food! Learning geography opens students' eyes to the world in a very real way - to see that despite borders, we are more similar than we are different, and yet our differences are ones to be learned about respectfully and with dignity. It's a passion of mine to pass this knowledge to other students!

I graduated with honors from Regis University with a B.A. in Politics and with magna cum laude honors from the prestigious Josef Korbel School of International Studies at the University of Denver (named for former Secretary of State Madeline Albright's father; she and former Secretary of State Condeleeza Rice are both alumnae of the school). There, I studied International Studies, with concentrations in both International and Comparative Politics and graduated with emphases in Intelligence, Security, Global Health, and Professional Communications.

A life-long literature lover, I spent my time at Regis University taking as many Literature classes as I could (my favorite was a class on Shakespeare!). At the same time, Regis's renowned, intensive seminar classes, taken every year, turned literature from merely a childhood love into a passion - learning to not only read, but analyze, edit, proofread, write - turned me into a master of the written word. All the while, I worked in the library, constantly exposed to classics and new literature, but my education became foundational to my experience as an editor for grant proposals; a writer of cover articles for magazines; and a researcher whose findings were published in periodicals such as the Wall Street Journal and Vice. Literature is far more than reading; let me show you how to get the most from your book!

I've interned for the Colorado House of Representatives and worked as a Research Analyst for the National Conference of State Legislatures in the Energy, Environment, and Transportation Division, providing bipartisan research for all 50 states and U.S. territories. I was a subject expert on over 30 issues and also worked on the Nuclear Legislative Working Group, which was a bipartisan committee of state legislators working with the DOE and other stakeholder on the issue of cleanup of the defense nuclear sites.

Study skills can be difficult to master, but not impossible! As a student on academic scholarship in both undergraduate and graduate school where I graduated with honors from both programs, strong study habits made all the difference. I encourage a variety of techniques, from the Pomodoro Method to color coding to specialized note taking. Each student responds differently, so I try to customize study skills to their needs. It can take a few weeks to turn things around, but with dedication, it can be done!

I began acting at the tender age of eight when I was cast as the lead in a church musical. Since then, I have loved everything about theater and acting. I've played the leads in high school productions such as "Oklahoma!" and "Guys and Dolls"; have had voice lessons to improve my singing range; and have competed in Speech, Debate, and Forensics at the state level through middle and high school. I also have worked backstage in sound and makeup, and performed in several musicals and plays in university.

Knowledgeable, Patient, and Overall Wonderful Tutor

Claire is one of the best people I have ever worked with. She took on a massive project with enthusiasm and vigor. Claire was very dedicated to helping me helping revise my doctoral dissertation. She was extremely patient as she successfully navigated all the jargon and nuances of an academic text. Claire even added in funny and entertaining comments throughout her edits. Instead of dreading the flood of red that came with all the track changes on the document, I looked forward to reading what Claire thought and her quick-witted comments. She made editing and revising this nightmare of a dissertation really fun! Not to mention that Claire is extremely intelligent, knowledgeable, and learns quickly. She is also not afraid not do a little bit of extra research to learn more about the topic she is working on; all in the name of helping you out. Claire always goes the extra mile. Claire is always patient. She corrected the same mistakes over and over, and never once complained or got upset that the mistakes were continuously being made even though she kindly pointed them out each time. Instead, Claire is your personal cheerleader, she points out all the little things you do well, and always made me feel that I was doing important work. I cannot recommend or speak highly enough of Claire. If you have the chance to work with her, TAKE IT! It will be the best decision you ever made! Claire is an excellent tutor but she is also a wonderful person, and you'll be a better student just knowing her. I know I am !

Claire not only teaches subjects in which she is knowledgeable in, she is a holistic educator. She works with the whole person and the results, if needing to be measured in grades, are immediate.
