Bio

Hi! My name is Jack! I'm a junior at Dartmouth College pursuing a double major in Physics and Applied Mathematics, where I have a GPA of 3.93. I graduated from Legacy High School as the valedictorian of my class with a 1570 (770 EWR/800 Math) on the SAT and a 35 on the ACT. I received 5's on the AP exams for AP Physics C: Mechanics, AP Physics C: Electricity and Magnetism, AP Statistics, AP Calculus AB & BC.

I've been tutoring for three years now. Initially, I started by tutoring several middle/high school kids in my neighborhood in Algebra and Pre-calc. I really enjoyed that experience, especially when I started to see these kids gain more confidence in the subjects as they actively improved their grades. I know how having a bad teacher can completely ruin the experience of a class and tarnish a students attitude towards learning. So, I wanted to continue tutoring to help other students excel in Math, Physics, and standardized tests such as the SAT, not only improving their grades but also their mentality towards learning.

I consistently tutored five high school students in my area one-on-one for the next two years in Physics, Statistics, Algebra, Pre-calc and Calculus, where we met every week. In these two years, I also tutored for free on another tutoring platform Schoolhouse.world (associated with Kahn Academy), where I hosted several group SAT bootcamps (met twice every week for four weeks) as well as one-on-one Math and Physics tutoring.

I know that tutoring is a collaborative experience, which is why I love to work with my students and their parents to understand what styles and techniques of teaching works well for the student. At the end of the day, I believe that learning should be an exciting and engaging endeavor and I will do all that I can to help provide that experience to my students. Feel free to reach out if you have any questions or would like to schedule a session!

Algebra 1

Algebra 1

I've taken extensive math courses through my time in high school and college such as AP Calc AB/BC, Multivariable Calculus, Linear Algebra, Differential Equations, and others. Algebra is a fundamental building block to all of these classes, so I have extensive experience with it. I've also tutored Algebra to multiple students for two years where they improved their grade in the class.
Algebra 2

Algebra 2

In high school, I’ve taken Precalculus (Contemporary Math IV at my H.S.) in 9th grade, then Calculus I, II, & III, AP Statistics where I received all “A’s”. I took AP Calc AB, AP Calc BC & AP Statistics exams where I received “5’s” in all three. I graduated Valedictorian of my class of 513 and was 2023 National Merit Scholarship Finalist. I've also specifically tutored Algebra 1 & 2 to dozens of students for three years. I was invited to become a tutor at Schoolhouse.world (created/operated by Khan Academy) two years ago, I am now a senior tutor where I tutor math (all), physics, college essays and applications. I also review tutoring sessions from other Schoolhouse tutors to provide feedback and encourage best practices. Lastly, I’m a qualified Educator at Khan Academy (have been on the platform since I was 6, I’m currently 18). This is important since being an Educator on Khan I’m able to use the platform to create a 1:1 classroom for my students. Here I’m able to determine where students are at by providing them specific Course Challenges, to determine their strengths & weaknesses in each target subject. From this I’m able to assign specific units to strengthen areas of weakness through combinations of world class videos (many by Sal Khan) and exercises (with explanations, if wrong) to achieve mastery of the unit/topic. I then review their progress and when I meet with them I go over specific challenges they had to gain understanding, then assign the next set/level of assignments to pursue to move toward being successful in their goal(s). There is no extra cost for utilizing my access as an Educator on Khan, but IMO this is an invaluable resource that dramatically increases successful outcomes. I’m also able to include parental access to see engagement and progress in real-time.
Calculus

Calculus

In high school, I’ve taken Calculus I, II, & III, AP Statistics where I received all “A’s”. I took AP Calc AB, AP Calc BC & AP Statistics exams where I received “5’s” in all three. I graduated Valedictorian of my class of 513 and was 2023 National Merit Scholarship Finalist. At Dartmouth, I've taken Differential Equations and Functions of a Complex Variable courses receiving “A’s” in both (which extensively use Calculus). I’m currently taking Partial Differential Equations. I've also specifically tutored Calculus (I, II & III) to students for three years. I was invited to become a tutor at Schoolhouse.world (created/operated by Khan Academy) two years ago, I am now a senior tutor where I tutor math (all), physics, college essays and applications. Physics

Physics

In high school, I took both AP Physics C: Mechanics and AP Physics C: Electricity and Magnetism, where I got A's in the course and 5's on the AP exams. Since then, I've taken physics courses in college including the Honors Introductory sequence (Mechanics and E&M again), a course on Modern Physics (Special Relativity, Quantum Phenomena) and Quantum States of Matter, where I've earned A's in each course. I've also tutored Physics to many students over the past three years. I graduated Valedictorian of my class of 513 and was 2023 National Merit Scholarship Finalist. I was invited to become a tutor at Schoolhouse.world (created/operated by Khan Academy) two years ago, I am now a senior tutor where I tutor math (all), physics, college essays and applications.
