I recently defended my Master's degree in biomedical engineering from the University of Minnesota. During my time in school, I fell in love with teaching while serving as a teaching assistant. I began coaching students in my free time and have enjoyed it immensely!

To date, I have completed over three-thousand chemistry, physics, biology and math sessions and personally scored in the 97th percentile of the physical sciences portion of the MCAT! I approach each and every session as a unique opportunity to enliven the passion for science in each of my students.

I have a strong footing in the sciences with an undergrad in chemical and biological engineering and a master's in biomedical engineering. I began teaching in graduate school during several lab instructor positions and enjoyed it immensely. I have been coaching high-school and college level chemistry and physics for four years and focus on targeting "sticking" points in the curriculum that prevent students from excelling.

MCAT

I have a strong footing in the sciences with an undergrad in chemical and biological engineering and a masters' in biomedical engineering. I have been coaching MCAT for just over a year and have coached college level sciences for four years. I have taken the MCAT and scored well over the 90th percentile. I am well-versed in the MCAT exam mechanics and help each of my students to see which facets are problematic for them. For each student, I create a unique study program and coach them with it through exam day.

Knowledgeable tutor.

I worked with William for about six weeks before taking the MCAT. Before, I had only done Kaplan practice and realized it was not enough. William came up with a very structured study schedule each week after reviewing my practice tests. He knows a great deal about what material is covered on the MCAT and is very helpful when teaching it. He also has a great deal of other resources to give to better help explain subjects. I enjoyed having him as a tutor and felt very confident going into the MCAT. I would recommend him to anyone having to take the MCAT or other standardized test.

Great Tutor

I’ve had the pleasure of working with William this summer in preparation for the MCAT. Ultimately, mostly due to my own mistakes, I decided to postpone taking the MCAT. William really knows the MCAT and is great at putting together an individualized schedule for you. He is able to recommend different study sources based on your preferred method of learning. He is also good at explaining concepts. However, we had several miscommunications during our time together. For instance, toward the end of our time, I was under the impression that I had finished most content review but he thought I knew more chemistry and biology than I actually did. This lead to a bad shock on my part as I realized that I was not going to be prepared for the MCAT in time. Additionally, perhaps because he got more busy in August, his responses to my emails were sporadic. In conclusion, William is a great tutor but ultimately you need to hold yourself accountable first.

Incredible MCAT tutor!

I worked with William for 4 months while I was studying for the MCAT. I had started studying with the Kaplan 7-book set but found that I wasn’t making much progress, so I reached out to him. William was quickly able to pinpoint my strengths and weaknesses and developed a study plan that was tailored to my individual needs. Each day, I knew exactly what to work on and study, and I could trust that I was making the best possible use of my time. William clearly cares a lot about his students’ progress, and he would frequently check in and made adjustments to my study schedule as needed. William is incredibly knowledgeable (It seems like he knows everything!) as well as an excellent teacher. He is able to think about concepts in many different ways and adjusts his explanations to fit your learning style. After working with him, I saw huge improvements in both my understanding of material and in my test scores. In addition to being an excellent teacher, William is really enjoyable to work with. Studying for the MCAT can be a rough process, but he made it feel more manageable, and I really looked forward to my sessions with him! I am so grateful to have found him, and I would highly recommend him to anyone studying for the MCAT or just looking for a great tutor!

Phenomenal MCAT Tutor

I had the pleasure of discovering William on Wyzant before taking the MCAT. From day one, he helped me create a tailored study schedule for which I was held accountable. In every one of our sessions, he was able to pinpoint my weaknesses and provide me with targeted practice problems and reading material. He was always prepared and immensely patient. Even though I asked him so many questions about my mistakes on practice exams, particularly those in the Chem/Phys, Bio/Biochem, and Psych/Soc sections, William took the time to answer every single one of my questions in the most comprehensive way possible. He even posed follow-up questions to test whether I had truly understood the material. After every session, he sent me his detailed notes as well. I feel so grateful to have had William as an MCAT tutor, and I cannot recommend him highly enough.

Patient and skilled

William had taken time to review my daughter’s course syllabus before the session. He asked her what she wanted to do first, and proceeded to help her with specific examples. William was encouraging and taught or reviewed again when needed. He sent her extra practice problems immediately after the session, and made a plan with her for the next session. Unlike other tutors, William prepared for the session, used every moment to help and encourage her, and helped her plan for a successful next session. I have been a teacher for more than 26 years, and William is doing the work of a master teacher - not just going over random problems or offering general advice. We are instant fans of his methodology.

Knowledgeable and patient

My daughter has been working with William over Skype, and it has been very successful! He has been very patient with her, as she is on the autistic spectrum, and she can be frustrating to work with. She has had two lessons with him now, and is feeling much more confident. He has been very flexible with his schedule, and reached out to us in order to be prepared to cover the materials that my daughter wanted help with. We are very happy to have found him!

Helpful Mcat

Directed my studying more towards specifics of what I need. Lots of passage practice and review. Gave a bunch of useful tips and items to use. I will definitely be using William as a tutor for more sessions leading up to my MCAT exam on the 24th of August.

Great tutor, organized and patient

I contacted William after my original tutor failed to show up to our meetings. I started preparing for the MCAT one month prior of meeting with William. The MCAT entails a ton of content and I found myself lost in all the material. Within our first session, William managed to analyze all my material, strength and weaknesses and helped me come up with a game plan. He is experienced with coaching people for the MCAT and knows how to teach difficult material and passages. Williams truly loves teaching and is willing to help you with anything you have trouble with. He is very involved and makes sure you get the best out of each session. I am glad that William will be coaching me for this very important exam. I highly recommend him to anyone that finds themselves lost in all the MCAT material. GREAT TUTOR!

10/10 would recommend

William does not mess around. If you've got goals but you're not the person to iron out fine details, Will's the tutor for you. He has a clear vision of where you need to go with your progression. On top of this, he's an insanely patient man and should either win an Oscar for keeping a straight face during your rough patches or is the great great grandson of Mother Theresa. TBD. Elite MCAT tutoring is no exaggeration.

Very helpful!

I contacted William about 3 weeks before my MCAT test date because I was really struggling with the reading section. He is an incredible tutor, especially for something as challenging and frustrating as the MCAT. He responds very quickly, is flexible about timing, and is extremely prepared. Not only does he know all the information but he knows how to teach it. He gave me handouts when I was stuck on a concept, walked me through practice problems and helped me with test taking strategy. He is exceptionally patient and understanding. Even though I started working with him only on the reading and analysis section, he helped me with psych, bio, chem and physics too. Working with him gave me the confidence you need to be able to succeed on the MCAT!
