I am an experienced educator with a passion for developing early literacy skills in students. I believe that literacy is the gateway to all learning and one of the most important factors in becoming a successful citizen. Not only do we read to survive in this world, but reading opens the door to a student's imagination, enjoyment, creativity, and access to new ideas.
I have been teaching for 4 years, ranging from students in Kindergarten to 4th grade. I've also tutored students on the side in the areas of phonics, phonemic awareness, spelling, writing, and comprehension. In each year of my teaching experience, I've seen more and more growth from my students as they build the foundations of literacy and develop reading skills. Student confidence has skyrocketed!
I have a bachelor's degree in Elementary Education as well as a master's degree in Reading with a Reading Specialist Endorsement and a Culturally and Linguistically Diverse Education endorsement. These certifications allow me to provide interventions to not only students who are struggling with reading or reading-disabled, but also those who have dyslexia.
I'd love to use my expertise to benefit young students who need additional support in literacy, but I'm also willing to support students develop math and numeracy skills. Building confidence through targeted practice that highlights student strengths is how we unlock the life-long learner in us all!
