Hello! I’m a chemical engineer who earned a B.S. in Chemical Engineering from the University of Notre Dame and an M.Eng in Energy Systems from the University of Michigan with a specialization in battery systems. In college, I knew I wanted to use my chemistry background to work in fields of renewable energy or sustainability, but I wasn’t sure what that looked like. During graduate school, I quickly realized that electrochemistry was the pathway for doing intriguing work with my chemical engineering degree while also making a positive impact in the energy and sustainability space. I currently work at a start-up in Boulder, Colorado that is using electrochemistry to produce steel with zero carbon emissions. There are many useful applications of this science that affect our day-to-day lives and can make a large impact within many industries.

As the only Wyzant tutor who specializes in this subject, I hope to share my love and passion for it with you. Whether you are a college or graduate student looking to learn more about this subject, or someone looking to go further than the basic high school introduction lesson to electrochemistry, I’m excited to work with you!

Although I primarily enjoy tutoring in the intriguing subject of electrochemistry, I also support students in general chemistry, algebra, and mentorship. I have primarily tutored students in electrochemistry and in chemistry. I have a significant amount of experience working with people of different backgrounds, as I was a mentor to 5 undergraduate engineers in graduate school and I have been in various leadership positions as an officer in the Army Reserve.

Ready to get started? Feel free to reach out to me with any questions and I look forward to working alongside you soon.

Algebra 1

Algebra 1

At the University of Notre Dame, I pursued chemical engineering and took math courses such as Calculus 2 and 3; Linear Algebra, Differential Equations, and Engineering Statistics. I succeeded in these classes based on the strong foundation of mathematics that I built in high school, where I learned subjects such as algebra, trigonometry, geometry, pre-calculus, and AP Calculus AB.
Algebra 2

Algebra 2

Career Development

Career Development

I have spent years serving as mentors to peers and younger students which has greatly increased my ability to work with students of various backgrounds for tutoring. For example, in college I was a mentor for younger students as both a resident assistant and upper-class cadet in ROTC. In graduate school, I continued my tradition of mentorship by fostering relationships with undergraduate engineering students to assist them in pursuit of their career pathway and personal development journeys.
Chemical Engineering

Chemical Engineering

I graduated from the University of Notre Dame with a B.S. in Chemical Engineering and the University of Michigan with a M.Eng in Energy Systems Engineering. After graduate school, I have used my chemical engineering degree every day while working at a start up in Boulder, Colorado that has an electrochemical process to create steel with zero-carbon emissions.
Chemistry

Chemistry

At the University of Notre Dame, I pursued chemical engineering and took courses such as general, organic, analytical, and physical chemistry. In graduate school at the University of Michigan, I took courses on electrochemistry, battery modeling, and fuel cells while performing research relating to lithium-ion batteries. I currently work at a small company where I use my chemistry and electrochemistry background each day.

Knowledgeable and Flexible Tutor

Christopher excellently explains complex topics for an upper level electrochemistry course. He is knowledgeable and adaptable at breaking down difficult concepts in the way that makes sense to you. Further, he provided me with extra notes along with his explanations, which I found helpful!
