I am excited about helping you study for exams and write excellent papers! I taught college level political science for 10 years at UC Santa Barbara and CSU Channel Islands; including intro courses in international relations, comparative politics, and most often, American politics. I also taught upper division courses in American politics and American religion. My courses have included a lot of material about history, literature and philosophy, so I am happy to tutor in those subjects. I am an administrator on the English Wikipedia and have created about 1000 articles. I recently have created two courses on screen reading software and Microsoft Office for an accessible technology company, Commtech USA, and am happy to tutor students using screen reading software. I am good at helping students research and write papers on a variety of topics including environmental policy, housing policy, medical ethics and constitutional law.
I specialize in helping students talk through the writing process and through their test preparation. So I will be the best fit for you if you are good at learning by talking, though I am also happy to give you written feedback. To begin our work, I will want to learn more about the course you are taking; if you're in college, send me the syllabus. Make sure to also send me the prompt for the specific assignment. If you're writing a paper, you will send a draft to me through a Wyzant message, and I will send you written comments; we will then talk about them during the video lesson. We can also talk about your edits as you make them during the video lesson, though I should note I'm more comfortable with Google Docs than with Wyzant's text editor. I want to be clear that my job as a tutor is empowering you to write a better paper, not to edit it for you.
If you need to prepare for a test, we will spend more time discussing the areas you have trouble with. The focus of our work will be different depending on the specific course, but it will likely include a combination of finding ways to memo
