Nice to (virtually) meet you! My name is Madeline but my students know me as Ms. Lanois (La-noy). I am currently a substitute teacher and have been teaching middle school English Language Arts (ELA) for more than 5 years. As an ELA teacher, I have taught students how to write in the different styles that appear on the state test (narrative, expository, and argument).
I enjoy tutoring because we get to work one-on-one to focus on your individual needs, not the needs of classmates....

I enjoy tutoring because we get to work one-on-one to focus on your individual needs, not the needs of classmates. Tutoring is a time to learn what you need to know in the way that you best learn. My goal is that you will be able to walk away from our tutoring session understanding the material and you will be able to demonstrate your learning to others. We will work together to review material and develop your skills with time to practice and test your understanding. I can also provide individualized strategies and study plans to help you access material and show what you really know.
I am credentialed English teacher who has a B.A. in the field of English Literature with an emphasis in Education. I also have a M.Ed in Curriculum and Instruction and hold a current Single Subject Credential in English. This credential gives me the ability to teach content standards for English and English Language Arts for grades 6-12 as well as English Language Learners.I have also worked for one year as a university writing tutor, proofreading essays for students, and working with introductory writing classes on campus as a TA.
I am offering my services because I believe all students deserve to succeed, no matter the circumstances of their learning and their learning needs. As a classroom teacher, I see that the classroom is not always the easiest or most accessible place for students to learn. Let me share my subject and content knowledge with you to support your growth as a writer, reader, and learner!
