I am a graduate of the UC Santa Barbara Honors Program with a B.S. Degree in Physics (3.95 GPA), alongside minors in Asian-American Studies and English. I have three years' experience of tutoring through the university, assisting undergraduate physics majors with homework problems, and two years' experience of independent tutoring. In addition, I worked full-time for three years on an educational product for high school physics (the Anatomage eBook), writing and animating video lessons across the AP Physics curriculum.

I am able to tutor high school and college-level math and physics. I believe that the best way to develop mastery of these subjects is by working through examples and problems. I will sit with you through every step of the process, asking questions and allowing you to think through the issue for yourself. My aim for you is not just to overcome the immediate challenge, but also practice sound learning strategies, and develop a deep and lasting understanding of the subject.

I am also happy to tutor for writing and English/Literature courses. For my writing, I have won a departmental award for artistic achievement and 2nd place in a short story contest, as well as fellowships from national writing conferences. I have a deep passion for literature and enjoy discussing books and the process of reading with students. I can also offer feedback for drafts of essays or any other writing.

Please contact me if you are interested in scheduling lessons for any of these or related subjects. I'm more than happy to answer any questions you may have.

Approved Subjects

Algebra 1

Algebra 1

I studied Physics at UC Santa Barbara, earning a 3.95 GPA. We use algebra regularly in physics, so I have good practice and can help younger children.
Algebra 2

Algebra 2

I received my Bachelor's Degree in Physics (3.95 GPA), in the course of which I made regular use of algebra in solving problems.
Calculus

Calculus

I received a 5 on my AP Calculus BC test, along with an A grade for the high school class. In college, I learned more advanced mathematics such as vector calculus and differential equations and kept a 4.0 GPA in all my math courses. Through my physics education I have a deep understanding of the practical use of calculus techniques.
English

English

In college I double minored in English and Asian-American Studies (with an emphasis on literature and writing courses), and received straight A's in these courses. I also won awards from each department (Artistic Achievement Award from the ASAM Department and 2nd Place in a Short Story Contest from the English Department) during my senior year. I have a deep passion for literature and enjoy discussing books or helping students craft an essay for classes.
Linear Algebra

Linear Algebra

I received an A+ in my college linear algebra course, and consistently used my knowledge throughout my physics degree. Linear algebra was especially necessary for the yearlong quantum mechanics course that I took over my second and third years, and for which I received A+ and A's throughout the three quarters.
Literature

Literature

I have a minor in English from the University of California, Santa Barbara, and more than 6 years' fiction and non-fiction writing experience. I have a wide range of knowledge and a deep passion for world literature.
Physics

Physics

I received my B. S. Degree in Physics from UC Santa Barbara with a 3.95 GPA. Over the course of my degree, I won a fellowship for my research in theoretical astrophysics, took advanced graduate-level courses in general relativity, and tutored undergraduate physics students for three years, helping them with homework problems.
Precalculus

Precalculus

I graduated with a Bachelor's degree in Physics, and am familiar with long use with precalculus techniques.
Writing

Writing

In college I double minored in English and Asian-American Studies (with an emphasis on literature and writing courses), maintaining a 4.0 GPA in these courses. I also won awards from each department (Artistic Achievement Award from the ASAM Department and 2nd Place in a Short Story Contest from the English Department) during my senior year. I have more than 6 years' experience writing fiction and non-fiction, and can help students craft essays for school.

Super brilliant. Needs no preparation to teach. The perfect math tutor.

I was really delighted that Raveen needed no preparation to start helping me with my math problems. This is because he is genuinely good at math. I think this really stood out from other tutors. Other tutors at my high school seemed less confident and wished to see the problems beforehand, but not Raveen. After an hour and a half, we completed all 30 problems on time. He also asked me questions about the problems so I could master the material. I finished at a much faster pace than with my high school tutors who often seemed stuck with pre-calculus. I am so glad I hired Raveen and will hire him weekly now.

Knowledgeable and patient tutor

I’ve had a few sessions with Raveen and have learnt many key components of physics such has Momentum, Energy-work, and Forces. He’s very patient and asks you questions to ensure you are learning the material and I appreciate that a lot. He makes the lessons easy to follow through and knows how to explain hard topics. Looking forward to more lessons thank you!

Good Tutor

He taught me physics 2B, or electricity and magnetism. He was very patient and able to answer all questions with minimal hesitation. He was also always able to attend the lesson on time and helped me a lot throughout this quarter.
