I am a current PhD student and Instructor in Comparative Literature at the University of California, Irvine. Prior to this, I graduated from Indiana University, Bloomington in Sociology (B.S., Honors) and Comparative Literature (B.A., Honors), with considerable additional study in social psychology, philosophy, and political science. I am especially passionate about essay editing, proofreading, and writing tutoring, as well as English language tutoring.

In addition to my current vocation as an Instructor of Composition and Literature, I have over 8 years of experience working with students of all ages/levels in English (including ESL), writing/composition, social sciences (psychology/behavioral science, political science, sociology, anthropology), and general humanities (literature, philosophy, ethics, classics, art history/aesthetics, critical theory). I have also tutored students in ACT, SAT and PSAT preparation, guitar, and classical violin. In addition to those more relevant to my academic background, I have broad applied interests ranging from global cinema to comparative religion to economics and contemporary financial theory.

I began working as an English tutor as an Indiana University student, teaching ESL to international students. Later, I began tutoring my peers in literature, academic writing, and argumentative essay composition. I have also worked as a Teaching Assistant in a number of advanced Sociology courses for two years. Since then, I have worked consistently as an essay tutor and proofreader, as well as a reading tutor. I am also a certified AVID tutor, and worked as an AVID instructor at high schools in Illinois prior to pursuing a PhD.

Please contact me for more information, for scheduling questions, or for references. I would be happy to chat, and to discuss the tutoring approach that might best fit your needs!
