Drawing

I am a current student at the California Institute of the Arts in the worldly renowned and prestigious Character Animation Program. I have also previously attended the Rhode Island School of Design, well known as one of the best art and design schools in the world. At RISD, I studied illustration and dabbled in many different art and design mediums such as charcoal, painting, marker, sculpture, wood, and etc. I currently am a teaching assistant to an animation class with Sony Pictures Media Arts Program (SPMAP) which is partnered with CalArts. In class, we deal with animation techniques such as pixelation, cutout, storyboarding, character design, background design , and etc. My other previous experience includes being a teaching assistant to 5 different classes in the extensive high school summer preparatory Rhode Island School of Design pre-college. These classes include drawing, design, spacial, and animation courses. In these courses I aided and led critiques, lessons, and techniques. I also looked over many portfolios as well as guided students in working to create a sophisticated portfolio catered towards the colleges they were applying to. I also had been a residential advisor for nearly 2 years where my residents were college freshman during my academic year and high schoolers during precollege summers. Being a Residential Advisor has gave me the knowledge of the ins and outs of art college and college prep programs.

An Exceptional Art Mentor: Caring, Talented, and Insightful- A Perfect Guide to getting Into a Top Art School

Our daughter worked with Rachel for about 1 1/2 years in preparation to create a portfolio to apply for communication design/graphic design major. Through structured weekly lessons, Rachel has given our daughter a great foundation in art techniques and design thinking. Her weekly lessons honed our daughter's technical and art skills. Rachel is a good mentor, and a good and fair teacher. She provides good art direction and is knowledgeable on what art schools are looking for. The caliber of work that our daughter produced would not have been possible without Rachel's mentoring as she really brings out the best in students, and we feel so blessed to have found her as she is truly an incredible artist and teacher. Our daughter had this to say about Rachel, "I had weekly lessons with Rachel for about a year and a half before I applied to a design program -- I had virtually nothing in my portfolio, and within that time, I had tremendous strides in my technical/drawing skills; but if anything, I learned how to think like an artist. I recently got into WashU's Sam Fox School, in which WashU is ranked the #1 school for design in America according to niche.com. I owe an immensely large portion of my recent success to Rachel, and I wouldn't have it any other way".

Organized, Talented and Inspiring!

Thank you so much Rachel! We were behind in our high school portfolio preparations - but from our first meeting with Rachel, I could tell that she would take control and responsibility for the process, and that gave me enormous peace of mind. My son is loving his work, which is most important. And his portfolio has come together rapidly under Rachel’s guidance. She is an excellent teacher - very organized and focused, motivating, inspiring and talented! Thank you again Rachel!

Best art tutor

My daughter had been working with Rachel for a while. She was knowledgeable, kind and patient. The two sculptures pieces were amazing, Rachel helped my daughter got in CSSSA at 9th grade. They decided to make more art pieces to submit to more art competitions. I am sure the results are going to be great!

GREAT TEACHER TO GET INTO YOUR DREAM SCHOOL

We cannot recommend Rachel highly enough. She is an incredible teacher, very organized and very dedicated. She helped my daughter Sasha prepare her portfolio for college applications and with Rachel's help, Sasha got into RISD which was her dream school! Specific points that Sasha really liked were the variety of exercises proposed as well as the constructive and detailed feedback that Rachel continuously gave her and which contributed to greatly improving Sasha's technical skills and animation knowledge. Thank you Rachel!

Knowledgeable, professional, care and responsive

Rachel is knowledgeable, organized and confident what she teaches. My daughter had the first two hour lesson with her for preparation of portfolio for college and she is excited to learn from Rachel after she went over the overall aspects of art that my daughter was interested in such as types of arts, schools/colleges, jobs available related to the major, and most importantly what she needs to focus for college preparation.
