About Juan Salvador

Bio

My favorite moments in lessons are when I catch the look of amused astonishment on a student's face who just executed on the cello something they thought would be impossible to do just minutes prior. Sometimes that look appears on my own face too... my students tend to learn fast!

No matter how daunting learning the cello may seem, the right dose of positivity, patience, and practice always yields results.

It helps that I have learned from the best. I have a B.M. from Northwestern...

I have a B.M. from Northwestern University and a M.M. and G.C. from USC. Both universities boast some of the world's greatest cello pedagogues. I also have learned from the great Itzhak Perlman, whose summer music program I attended for five consecutive years.

A little more about me: I was a Fellow in the Los Angeles Orchestra Fellowship, in which I gained experience performing with LACO (Los Angeles Chamber Orchestra) as well as mentoring the young talents of ICYOLA (Inner City Youth Orchestra of Los Angeles). I am co-artistic director of Mixtape Series, an innovative concert series whose genre-defying programs have been garnering the attention and acclaim of audiences and arts leaders throughout LA. I was awarded USC's First Prize at USC's Solo Bach Competition. And I have performed as a soloist in Walt Disney Concert Hall in downtown LA, the Broad Stage in Santa Monica, and the Auditorio Blas Galindo in Mexico City.

If you have any interest in taking cello lessons, feel free to contact me and I would be happy to talk / schedule a trial lesson!
