Hi there, I'm Rachel! I am a certified chemistry and physics teacher who is passionate about helping students achieve academic success and gain confidence. I have a Masters in Physics with a Teaching Emphasis from East Texas A&M and completed my undergraduate at Kenyon College as a double major in chemistry and English. With over 8 years of experience as a tutor, I have helped many students overcome academic challenges in these notoriously difficult subjects.

My approach to tutoring is centered around building strong relationships with my students. I understand that every student has unique learning needs, and I am committed to adapting my sessions to meet those needs. I use an active learning approach to tutoring. I will not simply explain to students how to solve a problem; I give students opportunities to practice and apply their knowledge while you have me there to answer your questions. This technique builds a lasting understanding.

My passion for teaching and learning is evident in my work, and I firmly believe that every student has the potential to succeed with the right guidance and support. I worked in science education for more than 8 years and have taught in public and private schools in the US and abroad, including world-renowned independent schools such as The Nueva School and The Loomis Chaffee School. Additionally, I have worked in dropout prevention and with English language learners.

My students consistently achieve success, both in their grades and in their self-esteem. I am patient, compassionate, and supportive, and I always strive to make learning enjoyable and engaging. I am committed to helping my students develop a love of learning that will serve them well in all areas of their lives. With my expertise, dedication, and passion for teaching, I am confident that I can help any student reach their full potential and achieve academic success.
