My name is Tamara and I am a certified teacher. I have taught grade levels ranging from Pre-Kindergarten to Eighth grade. The last four years, I was teaching 6th grade mathematics and science, subject areas which I enjoy.
I graduated Magna Cum Laude from Southern Adventist University in Collegedale, TN, with a Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education with a focus in Mathematics and Science. Since then, I have taught in the Hamilton County Public School system, which I enjoyed. I left my position so that I would be able to stay home with my daughter and look forward to going back one day.
I also have been working on my master's degree in Curriculum and Instruction (also at Southern) and plan to be finished with the required coursework by December 2008.
I have some tutoring experience, mainly helping students out while in college, but love working one on one and with small groups. My teaching style is one that I would have enjoyed to be taught with. I have enjoyed teaching using multiple methods, including inquiry-based learning which has proved to be very successful with my math students. I work with my students to ensure success and to give them access to what they need to learn in a way that they will understand.
Though I am taking a break from the classroom, I still enjoy teaching and helping people succeed. Being able to assist people in the learning process is rewarding and challenging. I enjoy working with people and teaching them.
