Hi, I’m Sharon! I am a research scientist and registered dietitian (RD) with more than a decade of experience helping students achieve their learning goals through one-on-one and group instruction.
I hold a graduate degree in Human Nutrition and have extensive experience as an instructor for STEM courses such as nutrition, chemistry, biology, and statistics. I have been tutoring for many years and absolutely adore it!

Hi, I’m Sharon! I am a research scientist and registered dietitian (RD) with more than a decade of experience helping students achieve their learning goals through one-on-one and group instruction.
I hold a graduate degree in Human Nutrition and have extensive experience as an instructor for STEM courses such as nutrition, chemistry, biology, and statistics. I have been tutoring for many years and absolutely adore it!
My experience tutoring adult learners began in 2008 when I took on the role of subject area tutor at ASU. In that position, I conducted individual tutoring sessions and group exam review sessions for undergraduate nutrition, chemistry, biology, statistics, and anatomy/physiology courses. Since then, I have also taken on teaching assistant and discussion leader roles for eight graduate nutrition and biochemistry courses at two academic institutions. I have also tutored students on an individual basis since 2018.
I have extensive experience with scientific and technical writing. As a published author I greatly enjoy the iterative process of writing and have helped many students complete successful writing projects.
I am also highly qualified to assist future dietitians with their dietetic coursework and the CDR RD exam. I completed my own coursework with a 4.0 GPA and developed a study plan for the RD exam that helped me pass on the first try. To date, I have assisted more than twenty dietetics students as they navigate the process of becoming an RD.
I strive to be an open and communicative tutor who utilizes an individualized approach for each learner. Some students prefer a structured process where we create a detailed plan and I provide accountability for their completion of each step. Others prefer to come to each session with the material they need help with on that day without informing me ahead of time. As a tutor, I am committed to ensuring the success of those I work with in their respective endeavors.

Sharon saved the day! (med school biostats)

I can't say enough positive things to truly communicate how great a teacher Sharon is. I generally understand biostats concepts but have a hard time with application and thinking systematically. I was super stressed trying to understand statistical methods for a RCT and she patiently taught me how to approach statistical methods in a systematic way. Working with Sharon, I was able to understand my project so that I could complete it in about 10% of the time it would've taken me otherwise. I was confident giving my presentation and was able to demonstrate strong knowledge of the topic. I want to become more comfortable with biostats and plan to work with Sharon again. I also have some confidence issues that are barriers to my success in this area and Sharon was so encouraging and built me up. Sharon is such a kind, patient, and expertly skilled tutor who really cares about the success of her students.
