Hi, I’m Eva! I graduated summa cum laude with a Bachelor of Science degree in Math with a minor in Computer Science (CS) and also earned a Masters degree in Education. Growing up, I enjoyed math and then fell in love with computer science because it gave me the opportunity to create something while learning and to use multiple skills while doing it: reading and analyzing, problem-solving, computational and logical thinking, debugging, and testing. When working with students, I challenge them to communicate their ideas and reasoning, so that I can meet them at their level of understanding. As we consider possible solutions together, I encourage them to ask questions and propose ideas, providing support along the way, so we can build their confidence to solve problems on their own.

As a certified teacher in Virginia, teaching both math and computer science to over a thousand students across ten years, I have learned a lot about creating lessons and helping students. I taught Introduction to Computer Science, AP® Computer Science A, AP® Computer Science Principles, Data Structures, Computer Science capstone, Algebra I, Geometry, and Economics & Personal Finance. I also graded AP® CS A exams for three years and have tutored students one-on-one in math and computer science for years, from middle school to college-age. Most of my CS experience is with Java, but I also work with Python, C, JavaScript, and Assembly on PC or Unix/Linux systems.

Whether a student needs help in a class they are taking or wants to learn something new on their own, I have the expertise to help and have a wide variety of resources and materials that I’ve collected over the years to pull from. I work from home, am easy to reach, and respond quickly. I look forward to working with you!
