Learn More About Catherine's Experience:

flute I have studied flute for eighteen years, and have performance experience as a soloist, as an accompanist, and in working with ensembles and full bands. My background includes seven years of both private and group instruction under several former members of the Tidewater Winds, during which I also tutored my peers in music as part of the learning experience. Additionally, I have competed at both the local and state levels and received two nominations to the Virginia Governor's School for the Performing Arts in the category of instrumental music as well as the Virginia Music Educators' Award for outstanding performance. I am familiar with basic music theory and can sight-read music in both the treble and bass clefts. Beyond that, I have done some work in the fields of composition and improvisational music. I prefer working with beginning and intermediate level students, but my major requirement is that the student come to each tutoring session prepared and willing to learn: to devote their time and full attention to each lesson.
