About Michelle:

I am a graduate of California State University, Los Angeles with a degree in Psychology. I work as an Early Interventionist/Infant teacher with children with developmental delays. I also have a 5 year-old son who has been diagnosed with Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD).

I have previously tutored middle and high school students in the following subjects: Prealgebra, Algebra I, Geometry, Biology, Chemistry, General Music (I'm a clarinet player), American History and World History. I have always enjoyed tutoring and helping others with academic subjects. I use different methods of teaching, whichever the student can connect to the most.

More On Michelle's Subjects:

  • clarinet

I have been playing the clarinet for over 15 years. In high school I was the principle chair player for 2 years, and also played in Honor bands such as Whittier Union High School District Honor Band and Cal State LA First Chair Honor Band. I studied privately under Stan Seckler for a total of 4 years. After graduating from High School and becoming a parent, I have played sparingly in Community College Concert Bands.

  • general music

As a long-time clarinet player, I have also learned and applied a lot with general music. I am very proficient in reading music; including Treble and Bass clefs, dynamic markings, notation symbols, timing, and overall general sight-reading. In general music, I am very comfortable with introductory concepts, reading music, listener appreciation, and introductory theory.

  • statistics

As a psychology major, Statistics is a part of the core program. I initially took AP Statistics while I was a senior in High School, I passed the class, but not the AP exam. I recently just finished two quarters of Statistics (One quarter is descriptive Statistics, and the other quarter is Inferential Statistics). I excelled in both parts, and I am very comfortable in teaching and explaining statistical material. I understand that statistics is a tough subject to fully learn and understand, however when I have been put into the situation of re-iterating material to fellow students, and tutor others in statistics, I have had positive results.
