My love for teaching and learning is profound. I welcome opportunities to help children succeed both academically and socially. With a Master's In Teaching and background in Special Education, Media Communications and Music, I am able to identify a student's learning stytle, likes/dislikes, strengths and weakness by the design/administration of an assessment, develop goals and objectives and assess student performance both academically and emotionally throughout the entire tutoring or learning process.

• elementary (k-6th)

  I have been teaching elementary education for 12 years. My teacher certification is in the area of Special and General Education, all subjects - K-12. I teach reading, writing, math, social studies, language arts, music and art. I have a Master's In Teaching. I am comfortable tutoring all language based subjects through grade 12 and beyond. With math, my comfort level is up to 8th grade. Multiple subject teaching means that I have acquired state proficiency in teaching the above mentioned subjects, and have taught students with many learning styles and challenges. I have become extremely proficient in designing curriculum, with learning goals/objectives and assessment techniques.

• general music

  I began music study at the age of 6 and continued through high school. This spans a period of over 20 years. I have sung in choirs for a period of 25 years which includes ensembles, with orchestras, and solo performances. As a substitute teacher I have taught in numerous music settings at all grade levels for the last 12 years.

• piano

  I began private piano lessons at the age of 6 at a very well known and highly respected performing arts school in the state in which I live. Music was always a major part of my childhood, singing and playing the piano kept me engaged socially, emotionally. Every weeks lesson was focused on preparation for performing in monthly "assemblies" or the yearly piano recital held on stage. By high school I was playing Bach, Brahams, Beethoven, and Mozart by memory.

  I am very proficient in designing high impact Powerpoint presentations on any humanities subject. Font size, style, colors, slide design and transitions are all elements that I am skilled with. I have graphics training at a design school, The Fashion Institute of Technology, where I graduated with an AAS degree in Advertising/Communications.

• special needs

  My teacher certification lies in the area of Special and Regular education. I have worked with the entire spectrum of special needs students, e.g. Asbergers, Autistic, Learning Disabled, Cerebal Paulsey; K-12. I am extremely proficient in establishing a warm, secure learning environment where children are validated for what they can achieve; high expectations are apart of every experience. Also, I am proficient in setting obtainable goals and objectives, and steps to achieve them, as well as differenciating instruction and developing multiple learning assessments.

• study skills

  Having worked and studied for the majority of my adult life, I am very competent in setting realistic study habits. I have taught study skills/lifeskills as an adjunct college instructor for 2 years. The topics range from note taking, listening skills, organizational skills and strategies for success. and developed curriculum which included study skills.

• video production

  I have had many jobs in education and in industry developing scripts and story boards for a video production. I am highly skilled in production strategies from inception, theme, music/sound track and narration. Additionally I am competent at developing a production for both children and adult audiences.

• voice (music)

  Singing in choirs and taking private vocal lessons and touring with choirs has been a major part of my life. I sang with small Madrigal groups to huge choirs, accompanied by orchestras. I am very familiar with a very diverse array of styles of music, eras and composers and continue to sing and play the piano. I take music substitute assignments often.
