About Yelena:

Hello, My name is Yelena and I'm a transplant from Belarus, a former Soviet Union country. I went to top-level language school and learned English professionally myself. While at the university I spent hours every day listening to English tapes, repeating English sounds, words and phases to master the language including conversational and grammar lessons. I still remember a phase of the caterpillar that addressed Alice from "Alice in Wonderland" fairytale: "Who are you?", which make me smile every time I hear it. I developed almost a six sense about the English language. Living in Bay Area introduced me to various cultures and nations, I developed skills in working with diverse populations: Chinese, Spanish, Russian and etc. speaking people. I love spending time on meaningful tasks like breaking through insecurities while teaching English. During my professional career as a teacher and a tutor I instilled confidence and helped improve language skills as well as build strong self-esteem in many students of mine. I consider myself a very well rounded, creative, bright and motivating person. I'm also an independent filmmaker and developed a documentary film that was shown in Hollywood at the film festival. I like to volunteer, meditate and teach. I believe in a human potential to overcome preconditioned circumstances and I'm looking forward to sharing my teaching English and life experiences with students.
