Be sure to use proper algebra communication to write your solution. The length of a rectangle is 5 m longer than the width. The perimeter of the rectangle is 82 m. Find the length and the width of the rectangle.

L = w+5 meters

Perimeter = 82 = 2L+2w = 2(w+5) +2w = 2w+10+2w = 4w +10

4w +10 = 82

4w = 82-10= 72

w = 72/4 = 18 meters wide

L =w+5=18+5 = 23 meters long
