This is a subjective answer in the business and personal world. Adding a photo adds no real value to the e-mail other than tying your e-mail address with a face. Many products then link this photo with other apps such as Outlook to Skype for Business to Microsoft Teams.

There is nothing wrong with not having an avatar attached to your e-mail. It is simply up to you if you want it added.
