How many kg did each of them pick?

 Mary, Peter and lucy were picking chestnuts. Mary picked twice as much chestnuts than Peter. Lucy picked 2kg more than Peter. Together the three of them picked 26kg of chestnuts. How many kg did each of them pick?

Hi Yvonne, let p represent the number of chestnuts Peter picked. Then Mary picked 2p chestnuts, and Lucy picked p+2 chestnuts. The total must equal 26 kilograms

p + 2p + (p + 2) = 26
