This is difficult to answer without a picture - but by your description, I am going to assume that the triangles form a "bowtie" shape, where point C is the center of the two.
By this assumption, you will have congruence based on Side Angle Side (not Angle Side Angle) - you have the two pairs of congruent sides given, then the angle formed at point C (<ACB and <ECD) are vertical angles, making them congruent as well.
Hopefully I assumed the shape correctly, but would need more information to be sure.
