Suppose x is the normal # of full attendance per class (since they're all equal). Normal school attendance: 10x

5 classes: half of 5x = (5/2)x

3 classes: (3/4)3x = (9/4)x

2 classes: (1/8)(2x) = x/4

TOTAL:  x(2.5+2.25+.25) = 5x.

 

attendance ratio was 5x/(10x) or exactly half of overall full attendance.  That is, 50% absentees.
