x + 3y = -3
-2x/y = -1
Solving the second equation for y:
-2x = -y
2x = y <--- multiplies both sides by -1
Substitutes this new equation into the first
x + 3(2x) = -3
x + 6x = -3
7x = -3
x = -3/7
y = 2x = 2(-3/7) = -6/7
Check:
(-3/7) + 3(-6/7) = -3/7 + (-18/7) = -21/7 = -3
-2x/y = -2(-3/7)/(-6/7) = (6/7)/(-6/7) = -1
The second equation is not entirely clear.
Feel free to re-post.
But as written and interpreted,
x = -3/7
y =-6/7
y =-6/7
and these answers are CHECKED and PROVEN to be correct.
