We need to use unit change ratio.
1 pound = 0.453 kg.
We need to multiply the weight in kilograms by a fraction that has the number of pounds per kilogram in the numerator and 1 kg in the denominator,
or
1 pound as numerator and how many kilograms is that pound in the denominator.
So, a weight of 15 kg in pounds is
15 kg = 15 kg • (1 pound ÷ 0.453 kg)
= 15/.453 =33.1 pounds.
This is called unit fraction. The unit you try to clear must appear in the denominator, and the new unit need to be in the numerator. We need to find an equivalence, like one I showed above. Then, we simply multiply and divide the numbers and add the new unit to show the measure in the new units in the answer.
So, 15 kg = 33.1 pounds.
Note, without the units it is not a true statement: 15≠33.1,
but 15 kg =33.1 pounds.
