Ebenezer, A point is an ordered PAIR of values. The individual values in that pair are NOT POINTS; they're coordinates. It takes TWO coordinates to make a point.

Recall the equation for every vertical line is the same which is represented as;

                             x = b (where be is a number unknown)

 

Now we're give two points x & y

 

x = 3

y = 7

 

we'd plug x into the equation above (x = b).

 

3 = b

 

so the equation for the vertical line would be;

 

x = 3 (remembering that the vertical line has nothing to do with the y-coordinate rather just the x)

 

Thus once you know what the x-coordinate or point is, that is the equation of the vertical line as all point on the line follows that point.
