How to eliminate theta?

xcos(3θ) + ysin(3θ) = bcos(θ)

xsin(3θ) + ycos(3θ) = bcos(θ + π/6)

How to eliminate theta between these pair of equations?

Michael J.

You cannot eliminate and value that is an argument.  Trig functions mean nothing without its argument.

This pair of equations (not these pair...)

Theta can be eliminated by adopting this;  Let β = θ.   (No argument, please!)
